Work experience

1985 - 1998

Helen Althuizen worked as a psychotherapist for 12 years for several Riagg institutions in the Netherlands, where she gave individual and group therapy to adolescents and adults. She worked for Riagg West Friesland for 5 years as the head of the psychotherapy department, and was also appointed as the coordinator for occupational counselling. As head of the department she was responsible for, amongst other things, the coordination and policy preparation for the psychotherapy section. She also developed a new treatment program for occupational related issues and supervised work rehabilitation tracks.

1998 - 2002
As psychologist/consultant for outplacement firm Claessens Nederland she oversaw workplace change programs, conducted psychological research and assessments, and provided workshops and training programs. She became the leading national expert on behalf of Claessens on the area of psychological evaluation, and developed a new Management Coaching service for the firm.

2002 - present

Helen set up a new practice in 2002, Helen Althuizen coaching | psychotherapy | work reintegration based in Haarlem. She provides counselling and personal development programs for a large number of private individuals, professionals, managers and employees. 

2003-present
In addition to her own practice, Helen has been conducting courses since 2003 in the field of collaboration and individual coaching for training agency Twee of Meer. She provides coaching and work reintegration programs for psychology-focused consulting agency Ascender, and is the coordinator for the regional peer review meetings for their psychologists. Since January 2017 she’s on the board of Rondom Psychotherapie as treasurer. Since 2018 she provides self-leadership training and teamtraining with Intrinzis.
